Education Capitalization

Introduction
Education carried out by government and also private sector requires a real operating expenses height. Most all sector is relating to education must be bought. Book, chalk, ruler, and teaching aid readily uses for example, must be bought. Therefore, education requires cost.
Presumption like that not then is followed up with closing eyes and ear with interest places forward commercial factor than social. Education is not commodity, but effort carries out system and certain mechanism that man is able to improve; repair their/his self, can make balmy itself, and solvent of interaction as man.
Education paradigm growing in Indonesia in this XXI century step by step has started leaves aspiration of the founders this republic nation-state that is that every citizen entitled to get education that is competent. The republic founders aware to that performing of the education are addressed to makes man is humanitarianly and can make process towards at fullness of spirit hence would very ironic with situation of education these days.
The Role of the Government and Private sector
Education is responsibility of all suborder. By referring this assumption, education organizer is not merely government but also entangles the side of private sector individually and also group. Thereby, governmental hoped all members of publics responsible educate Indonesian.
Despitefully, because of limitation of cost, governmental given opportunity of it's bigger to public to participate and develops business through education. This assumption comprehended by public by building opening school, courses, or skilled education type with facility that is better than school build and owned government. By giving supporting facilities for education that is rather differs in, rather complete, and promises makes education managed the side of private sector must be redeemed with cost that is not is cheap. So expensive education.
Indonesia has ever owned Perguruan Taman Siswa carrying out education for public? People with motivation educate public? People. Indonesia also has education system of pesantren (Islamic models) which is not collects payment which in the form of money from it's the student. Student in pesantren modeled this salaf (classical) not only studies public sciences (like biology, physics, mathematics, language, and art) they also studies Islam science for the sake of individual and public.
Without realized already happened friction of motivation of organizer and the management of the existing education. Education organizer of private sector tends to sells dream with equipment of facility which they perform. They disregard condition of Indonesia public most doesn't have purchasing power and energy? Power to bargain. Pupil old fellow will be given on to reality "expensive school" and "go to school for rich man children".
Of course, must also be confessed that the school requires cost. However, collects expense of height for education is a real wrong deed; more than anything else in Constitution 1945 has expressed that any citizen [is] entitled to get education.
Capitalist: Having Under the Law
Shifts it purpose of education levying from formulated by the Republic of Indonesia founders is really peeping out suborder concern. If education only be carried out just for man who is having money, hence the biggest layer of Indonesia public? People will not have formal education. Poor people and people, who don't have purchasing power, will yield apathetic generation. Thereby, will lose also one civilization links a nation.
Education carried out with only menitikberatkan at present financial advantage will only make man is more individually and once in a while overrules that the man basically is created autonomous. Tendency and dependency to get it's (the capital returns will make education product to enable all ways, machiavelistical.
Other side, education system this time makes detached man from it's (the area and sometimes abstracted from its (the community root. Properly is critical that education system this time makes educative participant not autonomous and sometimes forgets spirit to as social creature or according to opinion Aristotle's that the man Zoon Politicon.
Semestinyalah had if education aimed at accomplishment of copartner ship standard (company) must be refused. Ideally, education must load agenda for "humanizes man" (humanization), non dehumanization. By collecting expense of height because law barium; by itself education has been transferred to accomplishment of industrial requirement. More than anything else in Indonesia, diploma is respectable reference and the only equipment to get work that is competent.
By positioning education carried out by government and also law barium private sector must, public trapped at acute dilemma. In one public sides requires education to increase it's the humanity reality, medium on the other side no cost is small monster or endless nightmare.
Tussle between fears and desire of public to send to school it's the children exploited by certain party sides. This condition is a real condition profits if evaluated from the aspect of business. Panic buyers are really condition hardly to the advantage of my pelaku-pela is business.
Opinion: Education is Sacral Factor
Indonesia Public till now still of opinion that formal education is equipment the only to improve; repair life, to get work with good production, good salary, and to fulfill primary requirements, beside can boost up degree. This assumption by generations and always is looked after causing peeps out assumption and places formal education as thing which sacral.
Though all formal education, vocational school is not interesting means. As it's (the impact, vocational schools teaching is skilled becoming not draws. Vocational school is school for member of marginal public. Vocational school teaching how facing and draws up life is assumed not elite and ancient. Despitefully, vocational school is not place of for rich man children, but majored for children from poor family.
Social Lameness as poison impact goad to school which only is enjoyed by rich man children will peep out oppressed feeling and not balmy among poor people. Poor public of which cannot send to school it's (the children will assume it as destiny which must be received and assumes it as penalization of God. Irony, of course. But this is reality when schools becomes is expensive and poor people [shall] no longer have place in school.
Minister of National Education in Indonesia for the existing likely increasingly far from nationality vision. Even with movement of schools autonomy increasingly clearly shows capitalization symptom of education. Now education is managed by using management of business that is then yields cost is sky. Expense of education more and more expensive, even impressed has become business commodity for the owner of capital (capitalist). By using pre-eminent school label, favorite school, peer school etcetera expense of education increasingly strangles poor people. Our education increasingly grinds marginal clan. Where situation of our education justice if certifiable school of that is just for they having money only?
While as man who sure is normal of public will choose best life. However, because of its (the disability and its (the kepicikan in looking at education problem, its (the objectivity is also disappears. Indonesia Public of course requires resuscitation that education is one essential part to improve; repair quality of it's (the humanity. Of course, there is no guarantee that education will make people to become rich, influential, famous, and in command.
Cover? Conclusion
Debate of length still need to be strived before Indonesia public can look into formal education as not the only equipment to improve; repair its(the life. Public must realize formal education is not as of its (the pitch.
Resuscitation need to be trained to pebisnis. School that is till now is viewed as the only equipment which able to be used to reach for and can realize its (the aspiration is not farm to get advantage. Therefore, not righteously school utilized as means to make a living. In school still and ought to slip between idealism, so that there is no reason again to expensive of education that is with quality, complete supporting facilities, and has various facilities.
Other alternative is publicizing intensively that non diploma required but ethos and hard work, motivates to build their/his self, and desires to live in better front must be inculcated early. Public must be awaked that becoming public servant is not the price of death.

Education Fiction - A Field Waiting to Be Explored

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Fiction throughout its history has embraced many subjects, and viewpoints. It is a potent tool of education, but, 'educational fiction' is a field waiting to be studied and accepted. This commentary will propose a rationale for considering 'educational fiction' as a genre.
Educational fiction arguably began with Geoffrey Chaucer (1340 -1400): J. D. Rolleston in a Lancet article 'Chaucer and Medieval Medicine (1932)' argues that Chaucer's works - notably The Canterbury Tales - are as concerned with medical conditions (plague, leprosy and malaria) as with literary innovation.
Medically trained Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) could be termed the 'father' of modern education fiction. Medicine and medical instruments feature heavily in his novels, from the cataract knife in 'Silver Blaze' (1892) to the obscure poison of 'The Lion's Mane' (1926). His interest in ophthalmology appears in Round the Red Lamp, a 1894 collection of short stories; one of these, 'The Doctors of Hoyland' describes an iridectomy. Laura Synder's article Sherlock Holmes: Scientific Detective credits Doyle and Holmes with reawakening the public's interest and trust in forensic science. In 1932 the Lancet in an editorial The Sherlockian Method in Epidemiology commented that Sherlock Holmes' methods of deduction were widely used in epidemiology.
Doyle's Sherlock Holmes inspired many scientist-writers who recognised fiction's educational power. Jonathan Kellerman, a psychologist, has penned several bestselling novels incorporating psychology themes. When the Bough Breaks (1985) explained the mind's workings in layman's terms and received huge critical acclaim. The novel's reception, and Kellerman's continual success, demonstrates that the public is willing to be educated in conventionally academic and medical topics.
Any line of work now has a fresh angle to approach the public. The radiographer, anesthetist, and radiologist are a crucial part of diagnosis, and treatment in the hospital environment. However, few are acquainted with their roles. The American College of Radiology commissioned research into exactly this problem in 2008, resulting in a 'Face of Radiology' campaign. However in 2009 Gunderman and Mortell examined scripts from several TV programs. They found that radiologists were either portrayed negatively, or missing. Perhaps the 'Face' campaign's repercussions had yet to filter through print and film media - but it could also be argued that, had an established writer penned an edufictional novel with a radiologist as a main character, the results could have been more dramatic. Education fiction is not simply about incorporating technical language into a novelistic format.
Current readers of fiction are more inter-disciplinary in their tastes than their Holmes-era counterparts, perhaps due to widespread multimedia and increasing university attendance. So we need a standardised classification of fictional books with accurate references under the genre of 'education fiction' (abbreviated to 'edufiction'). A reader of an 'edufiction' would be assured, perhaps, of a bibliography to verify some of the assumptions it makes. Any specialist terms could be explained in a glossary, and an appendix would include recommendations for further reading. I propose the following generic definition:
'An edufictional novel intends to educate its reader, and may also seek to promote awareness about its chosen topics. Although the narrative is fictitious, all its references are verifiable, and all its assumptions plausible in the light of current thought.'
David Kennedy in his article Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Plagiarised Paper (2010), published in Nurse Education, offers an alternative explanation: 'Narrative Pedagogy ' is '... the telling of a "story" for the purposes of enabling learning'. We live in an age of fast communication, and abbreviated words. 'Narrative Pedagogy' is not a genre term, as 'edufic' could be. 'Edufiction' or 'edufic', follows a trend seen in English vocabulary: the one-time neologism 'docudrama' is now an accepted word defined in the Oxford English Dictionary ('A television film based on a dramatized version of real events').
Edufiction opens up the possibility of interdisciplinary discussion. A foreword by an authority on the edufiction's technical subject/s could enhance the story and possibly attract a readership that may have bypassed the novel. In the educational market, teachers could encourage students to read edufictional novels, examine the quoted references, and verify a text's assumptions, thus developing research skills.

Falling Standard Of Education In Nigeria: Who Is To Be Blame

Thursday, October 4, 2012

INTRODUCTION
The concept " falling standard of Education" is a relative term because there is no well defined instruments to measure it with utmost reliability and validity. That is why scholars' views on the concept varies. These scholars view it at different perspectives, depending on the angle each of them is looking at it.
Babalola, A (2006) sees the concept from admission of Nigerian University products in developed countries universities. That the first six Nigerian Universities (University of Ibadan, Ile Ife, Lagos, Benin, Nsukka and Zaria) had their products competing favourably with any other University in the world as their products were sought for by University of Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford and London for admission into their post-graduate courses. That these students record breaking performances and when they graduate are employed by the best multi-national companies and corporate bodies globally unlike today where no Nigerian University is among the top 6,000 Universities of the world (Adeniyi, Bello (2008) in Why no worry about rankings). He sees standard from how universities contribute to knowledge and solving problems besetting mankind.
According to Gateway to the Nation (2010), University of Ibadan is ranked 6,340th University in the world. In Africa, University of Ibadan is ranked 57th, OAU 69th and South African Universities are leading the way in Africa.
He also use written and spoken English as a yardstick for measuring standard of education which University of London conducted a research in West Africa and the result showed that teachers trained by colonial masters were better of than those trained by indigenous teachers.
He also used staffing, funding, foundation, origin and students as standard of education.
Standard of education to Dike, V. (2003) is how education contribute to the public health (or sociopolitical and economic development of a Nation).
Standard of education to either passing or failing of external examinations like WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, JAMB,(NOW UTME) among others.
Teachers without Boarders (2006) looks at educational standard from how the products of schools can be measured in terms of outcome. That is how school leavers contribute to the society in terms of cognitive affective and psychomotor. I will be using students to refer to both students and pupils, I will use head teacher to refer to both principal and headmaster.
Which ever way you may view standard of education, for you to conclude whether the standard is falling or not, you must take into consideration all the aforementioned variables including achieving educational goals.
Equally, for justice to be done while measuring these standards one has to look at reliability where all the schools to be measured must have the same infrastructure, teaching materials, quality of teachers, level and degree of learners, condition within which learning takes place, some methods of assessment and some types of contribution to the society among others.
CAUSES OF FALLING STANDARDS
Haven discussed what makes up standard in education, may I crave your indulgence to some of the established facts that constitute falling standard of education in Nigeria.
(1) Discipline: This is one of the outstanding attributes of education when it is rightly observed.
a. Repeating: school no longer observe repeating as every student is promoted to the next class whether they understand or not gives room for falling standard.
b. Attendance: The 75% of attendance universally accepted as the bases for someone to sit for examination is no longer observed.
c. Late coming: Student that come late are no longer punished, which leads to their losing morning classes.
d. Misbehaviour: Students are no longer punished for misbehavior because of their parental influences (lost of jobs or unnecessary transfer).
e. Cultism: This could refer to rituals, usually under oath binding the members to a common course. They operate covertly in fulfillment of their objectives to the detriment of other people. Thus, planning secondary needs above primary needs.
These cults exist because of over population of students in schools, wrong admissions not based on merits, hence fear of examination failures and selfish worldly gains.
(2) Quest for paper qualification: Nigerians respect paper qualification above performance in the fields. Hence, cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains are supposed to be measured on the field.
(3) Politicizing education: Merit is no longer regarded as it is now " who you know" and not "what you can deliver" Technocrats (educationists are not appointed Commissioner of education and education board).
(4) Policy problem: Sometimes the type of policies government make on education adversely affects output. For instance, in College of Education, we have National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), competing with JAMB for admission as the two guidelines vary.
Equally, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, JAMB ( now UTME) compete with qualifying pre-requisites and regulation of entries into tertiary institutions.
(5) Teachers not being part of the examination bodies. One wonders whether the continuous Assessment submitted by these teachers are used or not.
(6) Accessibility of Schools: The Nigerian population boom has outnumbered the existing schools as the existing schools have to over admit.
This point can be practically seen in the following areas:
(i) Teacher / Student ratio of 1:25 is no longer there as in my class, it is 1:3900.
(ii) Students / books / Journals ratio of 1:10 is no longer feasible.
(iii) Politics of admission: Schools can no longer set targets for admission to conform with their facilities as powerful notes from above will force the school authorities to either over admit or find themselves in the labour market again. Yet it is those that are giving these notes are suppose to build more schools or provide needed infrastructure etc. to accommodate those collecting these notes.
(7) Over-dependent on cognitive domain: Schools do not give regards to affective domain that will mould characters of our young ones. Little attention is given to psychomotor while no attention is given to affective domain.
(8) Shortage of qualified teachers: Some schools in the rural areas only have the headmaster as government employee while the rest that may be secondary school drop outs are PTA staff. What miracle can these staff perform? Dike, V. (2006) observed that only 23% out of the then 400,000 primary schools in Nigeria have grade II even when NCE is now the minimum qualification for teachers at primary and Junior Secondary schools.
(9) Teachers welfare: It is no longer news that
(a) Politicians do not have negotiation council to negotiate their salary increase.
(b) There is no disparity among political office holders from the federal, state and local governments.
(c) Their salaries are increased at astronomical manner.
(d) Their salaries are increased any time without recourse to whether the nation's economy can bear it or not.
(e) But for teachers, they must negotiate the 10 to 20% of an attempt to increase their salary with consideration of the economy of the nation. How can these teachers contribute and perform miracle when their family members are in the hospitals and the O.S. syndrome is written on their cards by pharmacists while they do not have money to treat.
(10) Constant Strikes: This is an impediment to smooth covering of syllabus. Oefule (2009) explained that one Nigerian guest asked a question on strike at Oxford University community but the vice chancellor could not even remember about strike, only the registrar remembered it for 17 years back. This is what governance means to the people.
(11) Long rule of the military; Education was not properly funded by the military regimes as according to Babalola, A(2006) Obasanjos administration inherited many left over problems of the military such as non- payment of pensions and gratuities of retired University staff, poor remuneration of university staff, dilapidating buildings of schools, libraries with outdated books, obsolete laboratory equipments, bad campus roads, inadequate water and power supply among others.
(12) In the secondary and primary schools levels, schools do not even have buildings talk less` of furniture's, equipments and reading materials. This is the level where the foundation of education should be laid. Any faulty foundation will lead to faulty structures. What do you expect from the tertiary level?
(13) Lack of training of teachers: Teachers are not trained to update their knowledge with latest discoveries based on research, then how can they give what they don't have?
(14) Poor state of Educational teaching facilities: Dike V. (2006) reported that research result shows that over 2015 primary schools in Nigeria do not have building but study under trees, talk less of teaching materials.
(15) Corruption: leaders of the schools and some Government officials either connive to buy equipments with loan money that cannot be of any use to the school or take such loans and do not even do anything with it.
(16) Poor budgetary allocation to education: A research work of 2001 shows that Nigeria only, allocate less than 20% to education it further reveals that Nigeria spends 0.76% to education as against Uganda 2.6%, Tanzania3.4%, Mozambique 4.1%, Angola 4.9%, Coted Ivore 5% Kenya 6.5% and South Africa 7.9% among others.
WHO IS TO BE BLAMED?
We have seen the causes of falling standards and from these causes we can deduce that the following are to be blamed:
1. Government suppose to carry the lion share of the blame because all the other variables are dependent variables to it.
2. Teachers also have their shares of the blame with regards to their diligent duties.
3. Parents: feeding has to be provided by parents. This is because parents do not leave schools to operate without interference.
4. Students: students who do not abide by school rules and regulations nor pay attention to their studies also contribute to falling standards. Students also seek for paper qualification and disregards to performance they also participate in cult activities that derail the progress of the academy.
5. The society is not left out as it is the way it sees and respects the products of these schools that recycles back again.
SOLUTION
Based on the problems or causes identified above, the following solutions are proffered: Schools should respect and restore back discipline to bring back the lost glory of our educational standards.
Performance should be regarded and respected more than just paper qualification. Equally, education should not be politicized for whatever reason.
Policy makers should be mindful of policies that affect education .eg JAMB(UTME) regulation in admissions.
Teachers should be involved in examination activities and examination bodies should always publish examination reports and distribute it to various schools for them to hold school workshop for training of subject teachers on their areas of weaknesses observed in the students' scripts with regards to following the marking scheme.
More schools should be built to increase accessibility by all. Cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain should be used for assessment of students.
Teachers' welfare should be given priority by government to avoid unnecessary strikes in our educational sector while more qualified teachers should be employed to curb the present shortage of teachers in our schools.
Our civilian government should prove to the people that they are better than military government.
Teachers should be trained so that they can meet up with any new challenges Educational facilities should be upgraded to modern standards while teaching facilities should be adequately provided.

Clarity And Success

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Clarity is one of the aspects of success. You must have clarity of vision in order to succeed. It is defined as sometimes that "Aha" moment. That is when you have had the cognition that what the truth is for your vision. Clarity can not survive a vague reference of vision.
If you take the statement "Crystal Clear" which infers that there is no obstruction in one vision, this is what your concept should appear like in your mind's eye. To be clear is to have an absence of any question in your own mind. You see it completely and conceptually in other words you own it.
There are many levels of clarity when it comes to the concept of clarity, that which is of physical nature and that which is of a mental nature and of course that which touches upon the spirit.
We are talking about the subjective self. We are not looking at clarity from the prospective of an object. This clarity is not tangible therefore we can not touch it. Hind site is the usual way people actually experience any clarity. Yet the clarity that I am talking about is one of the Observer and that is you. When one is first involved in a new idea, the first impulse is to find a point of reference. If a reference is not found, you will be led by your prior conditioning into confusion. If I said to you "Blassat" you would not have a point of reference. You will simply write it off as gibberish. Now if I define this term as "A Glass That Is Tipping" now you have a picture in other words clarity. Re-read the definition above right now three times.
It is so often spoken to have clarity in vision, to be clear as to why you are doing something, or about your goals. Too many people jump off "thinking" that they are clear yet can not perform any task connected to the concept. When that happens, it simply is a lack of clarity. There is something that you do not have a clear picture of. Here is another example of clarity in action. If I say picture a dog, many of you immediately can picture one. It could be any dog. Now if I say a picture a Poodle or a Chihuahua, you get a very specific picture a particular type of dog.
When we talk or discuss matters of clarity, especially in personal development, self improvement, goal achieving in anything, this is what we are talking about. It is very specific it has a point of reference and you can picture it in your minds eye with detail. We I am pointing out here is the stuff you have a point of reference for.
What happens when there is no point of reference such as in a new subject or activity? This is one of the most common errors made with many people, in that, they want wealth or better relationships yet they have no existing reference for it. They have not experienced it nor have any real idea of how to experience it. In order to overcome this one then has to take an action.
Should you not have a point of reference then there is only a few things you need to do. One of the things is to educate yourself, on that discipline or find someone who is already experiencing such a thing. Realize that you can not have an "Aha" moment or conceptual understanding of something that you have never experienced or are familiar with. Let me interject here watching "TV" is not a real experience. That type of experience leaves out most of the details along the way, one of them you might call "Work!" The only TV worth watching is educational TV.

Celebrates With Virtues and Not on a Mere Knowledge

Thursday, October 4, 2012

While our society aimed for advancement, the role of education has also strengthened. It becomes the advocate of industrialization hence, the reason for effective and efficient work forces.
Like any other prerogative a person can practice, education remains as one of the most celebrated products of liberalism. As how important education can nurture us, it can also squeeze us out of our comfort zone that is, using education unconstructively to conquer the credulity. Furthermore, education is always viewed as a positive chain for one's success and sophistication.
In the past through imperative reference and education, many are awakened and liberated themselves from the old tradition that harmed a lot of innocent people. Through the learning we gained, we are able to weigh things and draw out the reasons for its significance and its possible damages. Today, where education has produced a lot of incredible and liberated minds, spring a lot of changes in the society more on for the progression and industrialization.
The question of what constitutes the product of real education can be viewed through the following:
Interest about others. A real educated man sees and appreciates things and entities apart from himself. No one ever survived from being alone. It is a two-way channel. You interact with them to give learning while you listen to them to earn knowledge.
Moral beliefs and virtue. A man may be incredibly learned with science and things around him. It taught us how things evolve, what location we are in the universe and how short life was for human beings but it could never teach us how to live our life the way we are able to savor all the things that we discovered. The thing is that, an educated man has a more sensitive and deeper knowledge of things that do not exist through our bare eyes but beyond what the eyes can see.
Lament over the invasion of technology. As how useful and efficient technology has brought us, the other side of it has drowned us to the world of superficiality. An educated man rejoices over the success of an invention that eventually helped human to be more productive and to make work easier but laments over the technology turning the most hallowed and sacred event in the past into a mere piece of writing. It blinds human from the awareness of the real pain and effort of culture.
Society only sees progression. The real educated man does not only sees the advancement produced in the society but sensible with the inequitable condition of the world beyond industrialization thus pursuing the answer on how to make use of earth's inadequate resources.
Cruelty of knowledge. Truly, there are so many things in the world that are left unanswered that even the minds of Einstein and modern intellectuals combined failed to address such things. For an educated man, there are a lot of things to question, a lot of things to unravel but like any other thing, there are limits to the knowledge that we gain and we take like food just enough to nourish our body. What this thing means is that, a real educated man knows what to question and what to take enough to answer and feed his hungry mind. The danger is that knowledge could destroy us. It could tears us apart through our very own invention and creation.
Talking about proper and essential education nowadays means passing a lot of tests to get into a quality education. From passing the tricky and challenging PSAT math up to securing a slot in a law school through thorough plans and LSAT prep, one may nonetheless gain the most celebrated knowledge a person may relish.

Many financial pundits embrace grandiose theories and use mathematical formulas to convince the vast sea of American Investors to accept their vision of the perfect American Retirement Account Balance. They make statements like "by the time you are sixty five you should have X$ in your retirement portfolio to cover health care costs or to live the perfect dream of exotic travel and extravagant lifestyle of spend, spend and more spending. Retirement plans and accounts, however, are like "beauty" it is in the "Eye of the Beholder"! My perfect retirement lifestyle is not necessarily my cousin's or for that matter my next door neighbor's. We all have different interests, needs, and desires. But we all do share one thing in common we deal in a risky business indeed called Investing.
It may not be a forgone conclusion; that Penny Stock Investors are investing for retirement. Some will develop an investment portfolio to hedge their current business needs whatever that may be. Some may invest just to prove to themselves and others that they can, while still others invest as a business to generate their monthly income in order to meet obligations. Still others invest for one goal, to build up a massive amount of cash these are typically referred to as "Day Traders.
This article is not an attempt to convince anyone how to invest or why for that matter, it is simply to give another point of view for the motivation of investing. The need to think about retirement whether you are a full time investor or just starting out or you have been a "bi-vocational" investor for years.
No matter your motivation allow me to make a case for you to invest with one eye looking down the road to retirement regardless of how long or short that may be. We all know instinctively that one day we will "give up", "give out", or "wear out"! Now I am not trying to be pessimistic or to be a bearer of bad news especially for those of you in your twenties and thirties. But what I am tying to impress on everyone is that just like in the market, life has no guarantees! By that I mean life and the market share the same propensity for change, volatility, risk, and dare I say fees, loads, and charges. Why do you think that the game of Monopoly is so popular? Because Monopoly like real life reflects the whole concept of "Time and Chance".
For those folks who are the always the winner at Monopoly remember this, life isn't a board game and you cannot ever memorize all the cards that will be thrown at you. This is just like Investing! Multiple volatile conditions affect your investments 24/7 and there is nothing that can stop Time and Chance from happening to you or anyone else for that matter. Since we are all equipped with this basic knowledge wouldn't it be prudent to at least look down the road and work up for yourself a basic vision of what kind of retirement you would like to have and at what age? Here are a few topics for your consideration.
Living arrangements - Family residence, condo/town home, retirement village? How much will that cost based on today's economy and then calculate from your current age to your perfect retirement age how many years that is multiplied by 3% for inflation. You will need to revisit this about every year to adjust for current inflation rates. Currently inflation isn't really an issue but that wont always be the case.
Health Care Costs- we don't really know what these will be any more than we can actually count the stars in the night sky. This is true for most investors living in the U.S. now days. Since this is a High Risk area we need an alternative plan other than just cash accumulation. There are two key concepts you need to study "Mortality & Morbidity". They will make you feel real happy! Not!

Safeguarding is a relatively new term and refers to the prevention of cruelty or harm to children. It focuses more on prevention rather than cure as when it comes to anything this is always a better approach. Safeguarding was introduced to protect children and ensure that no harm comes to them. Obviously not all situations can be prevented, as that would be impossible however safeguarding aims to prevent the harmful situations that could occur from happening.
There are a number of varied and different techniques which all apply to safeguarding. Many people who work with children or have the possibility of working closely with children will normally be trained about the methods and techniques of safeguarding. People who work with children will also be checked before they are allowed to begin a job or any type of voluntary work, this is all part of safeguarding and protecting children.
There are a number of professional organisations that can help you when it comes to safeguarding. For whatever reasons you may need to learn about safeguarding these professionals will be sure to help and ensure you are safeguarding and protecting the children in your care in the best way possible. After all the main aim of safeguarding is to allow children to grow up free from negative influences and experiences, this will allow them to grow up and develop fully in the best possible environment.
Teacher Training is a vital aspect of the running of a school. It is always important that schools are kept up to date and aware of new and advanced methods of teaching. With many teachers leaving the professions in the first five years of their careers due to bad behaviour problems from students it is important that teachers are prepared in the best way possible for real life teaching situations.
Teaching can be a very daunting job especially to teachers who are just starting out and have had little experience in the real world of teaching. This is why it is so important to prepare teachers from an early stage so they are really aware of what they are getting into. This training is very important and it is just as important to ensure that training is continued and frequent, this will allow teachers to work together and maybe even learn from each other. I think from the statistics of teachers leaving the job in the first five years it is clear that not enough is done at the beginning of their training to ensure they really know what the job involves and that its for them.

Aspects of Teaching and Education

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Behaviour problems can really unsettle a new teacher, problems with behaviour from students is one of the main reasons why teachers who have taught for less than 5 years will leave the profession altogether. Dealing with behaviour issues and not allowing it to affect a teacher personally is not always taught in depth during the time a teacher is first studying. This has dramatic consequences when a teacher goes into real teaching and is confronted with real life situations from students.
Classroom Management is another form of management that is necessary in schools. Classroom Management involves teachers and schools planning lessons and tasks for students to complete. These lessons and tasks have to be carefully thought out and planned effectively so as not to allow students the time or the opportunities for students to become disruptive or unruly in lessons. More often than not it is left to the teacher to plan their lessons as they know the behaviour and characteristics of their students however some schools tend to have an overall classroom management approach which applies to most classes.
Teacher Training is vital for schools to succeed and to remain effective in what they do. Schools provide teacher training days to ensure teaching styles remain up to date and teachers are kept knowledgeable about new methods and techniques.
The teacher training at the beginning of a teachers study sometimes is weak and doesn't prepare a teacher for real life situations and what they may have to deal with.
Safeguarding is a relatively new term and refers to the safeguarding of children and young adults. Safeguarding is about the prevention of harm occurring to a child. It is not an attempt at fixing or curing problems but preventing whole situations from arising in the first place. Safeguarding involves many aspects, people who work closely with children are checked before being allowed to, to ensure they have no previous convictions that may bring harm to children. This is just one method used to safeguard children.

The Joys and Education of Stamp Collecting

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Love it or loathe it, stamp collecting has been around for a long time, and is here to stay. Nevertheless, it captivates people in all walks of life, and from all age groups. Even with fax machines and e-mails, many items are still being sent by conventional post. It would seem that the earliest reference to collecting stamps was in England in 1841, the year after they were first issued. People have different reasons for collecting stamps. Some find it relieves stress. Others like the educational side of it. Prospects of financial gain motivate still others. Prior to postal service, people forwarded messages and letters via trusted travelers. By the sixteenth century an international postal service operated among a number of European states.
In 1837 Sir Rowland Hill published a pamphlet on "Post Office Reform." He recommended that letters be delivered anywhere in England for a penny. The British Government followed through and in 1840 penny postage started, issuing the first adhesive postage stamps for use on letters. These were the famous one-penny stamps bearing a profile of Queen Victoria (the Penny Black) and the blue two-pence stamps. A couple of years later the first adhesive stamp in the United States was put in circulation by the Despatch Post of New York city. It prepaid a three-cent delivery charge on a letter mailed inside the city. Canada followed suit in 1851 with a three-penny beaver design stalp. Innumerable books are available through public libraries and bookstores as aids to knowing stamp values and what to collect. Information is freely available on the Internet. An album is very helpful for classifying, as well as a magnifying glass.
Some start by saving stamps from letters coming into their homes or places of business. Others build a collection by purchasing packets of various kinds of stamps. Most collectors find that the larger packets have the best stamps in them. A chronicle of human history can be seen through the picture window of stamps. Peaceful scenes, war and other human tragedies, scientific accomplishments, profiles of kings, queens, presidents have all been depicted. During World War II postage stamps were converted into a medium of propaganda by the opposing sides. Commerce and industry have played a part in influencing their design. Some collectors specialize in animal stamps. The koala bear, the egg-laying platypus and that noted jumper the kangaroo have all had their pictures on Australian stamps. Peruvian stamps have illustrated the llama, while Liberian letters have been decorated with the crocodile. The tortoise has appeared on Vietnamese and Ecuadorean stamps. Some people enjoy doing this by collecting stamps on which various nations have portrayed birds common to their lands. The eagle has a place on the face of Polish, Albanian and Syrian stamps, to mention only a few. Venezuela has featured the vulture, Hungary the raven, Spanish Sahara the ostrich, Korea the hawk, while Austria, China, Monaco and others have pictured the soaring wings of the gull. The pelican has appeared on the stamps of Yugoslavia, Mozambique and Antigua.
Unusual stamps, needless to say, interest many collectors. Stamps come in literally all shapes and sizes. A Papua stamp bearing the names of every post office in the country was not only an oddity but a first. In 1853 the Cape of Good Hope issued the first triangular stamps. Brazil's first stamps in 1843 were oval shaped. One of the world's rarest stamps, (thus very expensive) is the British Guiana - now Guyana - 1¢ magenta, issued in 1856. It was issued in limited numbers, and only one specimen is now known to exist.

The Magic of Diamonds: Diamond Buying Guide and Education!

Celebrating a Special Occasion with Jewelry
Jewelry and gems The Buying Guide
Diamonds
The diamond has been one of the most coveted gems in history. Uncut diamond adorned the suits of armor of the great knights; cut diamonds have adorned the crowns of kings and queens throughout the ages. Today the diamond is internationally recognized as a symbol of love and betrothal and is the recipient of increasing interest as a source for investment.
The diamond has been credited with many magical powers, superior strength, bravery and courage. At one time it was considered the emblem of fearlessness and invincibility; the mere possession of a diamond would endow the wearer with superior strength, bravery, and courage. It was also believed that a diamond could drive away the devil and all spirits of the night.
During the 1500s diamonds were looked upon as talismans that could enhance the love of a husband for his wife. In the Talmud a gem that, from its description, was probably a diamond was worn by the high priest and served to prove innocence or guilt. If an accused person were guilty, the stone grew dim; if innocent, it shone more brilliantly than ever.
The Hindus classed diamonds according to four castes. The Brahmin diamond (colorless) gave power, friends, riches, and good luck; the Kshatriya (brown/champagne) prevented old age; Vaisya (the color of a "kodali flower") brought success; and the sudra (a diamond with sheen of a polished blade, probably gray or black) brought all types of good fortune. Red and yellow diamonds were exclusively royal gems, for kings alone.
Diamonds have been associated with almost everything from producing sleepwalking to producing invincibility and spiritual ecstasy. Even sexual prowess has been strongly attributed to the diamond. There is a catch, however, to all the mythical powers associated with this remarkable gem. One must find the diamond "naturally" in order to experience its magic, for it loses its powers if acquired by purchase. However, when offered as a pledge of love or friendship, its potency may return, another good reason for its presence in the engagement ring!
- What is Diamond?
Chemically speaking, a diamond is the simplest of all gemstones. It is plain crystallized carbon, the same substance, chemically, as the soot left on the inside of a glass globe after the burning of candle, or the substance used in lead pencils.
The diamond differs from these in its crystal form, which accounts for the desirable properties that have made it so highly prized, its hardness, which gives it unsurpassed wearability, its brilliance, and fire. Nonetheless, while diamond is the hardest natural substance known, it can be chipped or broken if hit hard from certain angles; and if the girdle, the edge of the diamond that forms the perimeter, has been cut too thin, the girdle can chip with even a modest blow.
White (or more correctly, colorless) diamonds are the most popular, but diamond occurs in every color in the rainbow. When color is prominent the gem is called a fancy or master fancy diamond.

Dental Case Acceptance and Education

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Many dentists are becoming familiar with the term, "Dental IQ." They are realizing it has somewhat of a monetary barrier. It has been determined that dental work costing less than $3500 is usually acceptable by a patient; however, amounts exceeding $3500 may be declined by the patient. This is where the dental knowledge comes into play with dental case acceptance.
Once the patient has entered the dental office a dentist can be fairly certain s/he has a long-term patient. Each dentist has his/her own way of presenting their diagnosis to each patient. In most situations, once the dentist knows the patient the presentation will vary from one patient to another. Still, the bottom line is the fact that the diagnosis must be presented to each patient in whatever manner the dentist determines is necessary.
One assumption some dentists makes it that the patient will listen to the diagnosis and then follow the treatment plan the dentist suggests. It is assumed that a patient will base the decision to have the work completed based on what may happen in the future if the treatment plan is not followed. The issue here is the fact that the dentist may assume the work will be done simply on his/her recommendation. This assumption leaves out key components of the patients' life such as the patient not having the money, no dental insurance, fear, or other factors that contribute to the patients' decision.
It has been determined that most patients will agree to a plan of $3500 or less. This amount of money will not present too many inconveniences or hardships in comparison to what might happen down the road should the work not be completed. However, once the bill tips over $3500 this reduces the odds the patient will comply with the treatment plan - instead stalling or postponing the treatment or even choosing to go to another dentist.
The dentist, therefore, needs to gather some information and learn more about each of his/her patients. It is important to understand, upfront, the concerns the patients has. It is important to know the patient's situation in regards to finances and if there is dental insurance. This will, in the end, save time for everyone involved.
Other factors the dentist needs to know and understand include evaluating how dentist treatment fits into the life of the patient. Will expensive treatments be an inconvenience or cause problems. What are the financial abilities of the patient as well as the health problems? More information, more personal, such as a newly divorced or a newly married patient, a newborn in the family, a new job each of these plays a role in what a patient might be able to afford.
Once this information has been accumulated the compilation is referred to as the "fit factors." Basically, this simply involves the dentist getting to know and understand each patient as well as understand their living situation. Once this data is collected it allows a dentist to meet the needs of each patient.

Bipolar Manic Depression - Understanding and Educating Yourself About This Condition

Thursday, October 4, 2012

One of the many serious psychiatric disorders out there is called bipolar manic depression. An individual who has been properly diagnosed with it suffers from depression and hypo mania. The length of the cycle from one extreme to the other varies for each individual as does the severity of each episode. There is no cure for this condition but with the right combination of therapy and medication it can be controlled.
Cycling is the process of moving from one end of the spectrum to the other in reference to the person's mood. While the person is in the mania stage they can be quite impulsive and engage in risky behaviors including driving too fast, spending money they don't have, and being violent towards others.
As they move into the depression end of the spectrum the moods change dramatically. They often seek isolation from their friends and family. They also find it very hard to complete routine daily tasks. It is very hard for a person with bipolar manic depression to maintain employment or relationships if they aren't getting the right treatment for it.
It is difficult to understand just how much this condition affects a person. They are unable to lead a normal life personally or professionally. They have three times the rate for divorce as the rest of society.
Research has shown there is a pattern of heredity factors involving bipolar manic depression. This type of mental illness often runs in families, affecting many individuals so some people may be afraid to get married for to have children because of their family history with it.
Heredity isn't the only factor that can lead to this condition though. Suffering from a very traumatic experience including an accident or the loss of someone close to you can trigger manic episodes. It is believed the psychological aspects of bipolar manic depression are what causes the cycling to occur.

Making Your Home Business and Education Experience

Thursday, October 4, 2012

As a staff writer at 'Home Based Business' we regularly answer questions submitted by our members, one great topic is using personal experience to make money.
Education is in high demand these days. High schools are teaching more difficult subjects, colleges have become more intense in their material, and graduate schools are strict on whom they accept into their programs. Institutions are looking for the best of the best, and with education the key to getting ahead in the world and being happy and successful, parents all over are striving to give their kids every edge possible.
Before you start buying supplies and advertising your services as a tutor, be sure to check up on all rules and regulations your state may have regarding tutor entrepreneurs. There may also be local and regional regulations you will have to follow. As with any business, research, research, research, before you make any solid decisions. You never want to start your business and realize you may have missed out on something.
After you have all the information, you can get started. Much of what you first decide upon will concern your monetary assets; where to allocate them, how much to use, etc. Here are a few tips when it comes to organizing your new tutoring business.
*Map out policies. Determine your prices and make a clear, concise outline of how much you will ask for and how long your tutoring periods are. Also, create certain times you will allow students to have make-up sessions in the case that someone misses a tutoring session. Both parents and students need to be aware of your policies so there is less of a chance of any confusion should times or payment not be met. A good idea is to get your payment before the week (or the tutoring period you decide on) starts. This will help lessen absences and cause less frustration to you when people do suddenly cancel.
*Go local first. See if your community has any specific regulations you should follow when it comes to tutoring. Different communities may be looking for different things or look at tutoring in a certain light. You can also provide your tutoring service directly to schools, but make sure you know what they expect from you, as well as what the parents expect.
*Bring your services right to parents. Pick out good places to advertise your services and start doing so. Many libraries have boards where you can post fliers or advertise in other local publications you are sure parents will look at. You can also network with schools. If you are working with the school, they can refer you to parents seeking tutoring for their children, or if you are your own separate business, you can ask that they pass information along concerning your services.
*Put a hold on teaching material. The best idea is to wait until after your first few tutoring sessions (as well as payments) before you go out and splurge on tutoring material. Each student will be learning something different, depending upon your choice of age range and subject range, and buying up a lot of supplies can become very expensive very quickly. Initially your computer will be your best tool. With internet access you can find free teaching materials or if you need, lesson plans. You may even be able to find material at your library. There are also cheap materials you can buy online if you need, so hold off on bigger items until you are sure you will need them, such as textbooks, workbooks, and other large purchases.
*Watch your cash flow. If you have teamed up with a school or two and have settled in on getting paid through their payroll instead of directly through parents, be sure you can manage your money effectively. There are some schools that have a 90-day pay delay, so if you are expecting your paycheck soon, you may be in for a longer wait than you thought. Be sure to have enough cash on hand until your next check.

Investing and Educating Yourself

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Some people say they have no money or too little income and, thus, can't afford to invest any of it. Let's get something very clear right from the start of this article: you can't afford not to invest. If you don't start putting aside a good portion (at least 10%) of your earnings into investments - if you don't start building a portfolio for yourself - you'll find yourself in a very precarious financial position as you approach your declining years. When you're facing the day you can no longer work as much or you'd just like to retire, and you realize you can't afford to retire comfortably, you'll wish you'd thought ahead a bit better and planned for such a day by investing when you were younger.
Educate Yourself - That said, it helps to know something about investing, even if you have an automatic retirement account, a financial planner, or savvy assistance from friends. To inform yourself, talk to some successful investors, read books and articles, and watch some videos. Try starting with Eric Tyson's Investing. Of course, there's an enormous amount of help online. Try Charles Schwab, Merrill-Lynch, CNN Money, Ameritrade, or Etrade. They all have terrific websites with a wealth of information. You could also take a class at the local college or go to a live financial planning seminar. There's also a good non-profit organization called the American Association of Individual Investors which offers educational materials and holds seminars on various topics.
Formulate an Investment Strategy - Just as with anything else, a plan will increase your chances of success. Take stock of your assets, income, short-term goals, and long-term financial destination. As I said earlier, you should invest a minimum of 10% of your income - a lot more if you're able. So think about it: how much money do you have and how much can you put aside? What do you want your investment portfolio to do for you? Help you retire at 55, 60, 65? Or provide you with additional income as soon as possible? Exactly what do you want to accomplish with your money? After you come up with answer to those questions, you'll be better able to select the right investments and the right combination of assets to meet your financial goals.
Questions to Ask Yourself:

  • How much money can you invest right now?
  • Do you have any outstanding debts?
  • Are you planning on purchasing any large ticket items?
  • What's the total amount of your monthly bills?
  • Do you have a retirement or registered pension plan?
  • Will you be inheriting any money?
  • How much instant cash do you want to have at your disposal for emergencies?
  • Whether you have a financial adviser or not, you need to be clear about those issues before formalizing your investment plan.

Investment Basics: All investments have three basic ingredients: Expected Return, Risk and Marketability.
Expected Return is the amount of interest, dividends or capital gains that you expect to earn from your investment. The higher the expected return, the greater the risk.
Risk is the chance you take that you could lose some or all of your investment, or that you could earn less return than you expected. Lower risk investments include government treasury bills and savings bonds. Higher risk investments are stocks and futures. Mutual funds vary widely in risk. Your tolerance for risk depends on your overall financial position, how much time you have to endure periodic fluctuations in your investments' value, and how well you deal with the likely anxiety and stress you'll feel if your portfolio takes a turn for the worse.
Marketability or liquidity refers to how quickly your investment can be converted to cash. Term deposits are not liquid, since you usually can't withdraw your money before the end of the term. Mutual funds, however, are very liquid because you can quickly sell them on short notice for little cost.
Stocks - Buying shares or stocks in companies traded on the NYSE or NASDAQ have historically outperformed all other investments over the long term. You can make a killing and become wealthy by trading on the stock market. However, stocks can also bankrupt you if you don't know what you're doing, or even if you do. Playing the stock market is not for the feint of heart. The risk is great, but so is the return if you play it smart. The greatest factor in determining stock prices is the company's earnings. Be prepared to watch your stock go up and down, fluctuating over hurricanes, gas prices, wars, and even presidential elections. It's the long-term growth of the company that matters. Here's an encouraging fact: since World War II, an estimated 90% of the stock market's gain has come from profit growth. As profits accumulate, prices rise, regardless of what's happened on any given day, month, or year.
U.S. Treasury Bonds - Do you want a sure thing? These are as close as you're going to get because almost everyone agrees that the U.S. government is unlikely ever to default on its bonds. The government can always print more money to pay them off if necessary. As a result, the Treasury's interest rate is considered a risk-free rate.
Mutual Funds - A fund is basically a corporation that collects and invests money. You join a pool by buying shares in the fund. Pooling your money together with other investors gives you more power to invest. Also, your money enjoys the advantage of being invested by a team of professional money managers who research bonds, stocks, and assets, placing the pool of money as smartly as possible. Investing your funds in several different places reduces your risk of being hurt by any single bad investment. The fund managers charge an annual fee from.5- 2.5% of assets, plus expenses. For that fee, you buy into the collective wisdom of a team of professional money people, along with attaining instant diversification.

Carbon Copy PRO Review - A Marketing System and Education Platform Explained

Carbon Copy PRO Review
Many entrepreneurs in network marketing, affiliate marketing, internet marketing and small business have heard of Carbon Copy PRO. Many have joined and are building businesses with Carbon Copy PRO. Of those who haven't, many are looking for an objective review and insight into the Carbon Copy PRO system and it's community; you may be too.
Before I continue, I want to point out something important for you to understand while you are researching Carbon Copy PRO. That is, most reviews are written either by members praising Carbon Copy PRO or competitors offering an alternative business model. So you will usually find a hint of bias one way or the other in the articles you read, depending on the motivation of the writer.
But don't despair, the simplest action you can take is to attend a free training & marketing call. This way you can hear first hand what the company is all about without obligation. For now, this article should enlighten you.
For the sake of transparency I want to let you know that I am a member of Carbon Copy PRO and I have been for over one year now. I'm not going to give you crazy income claims. However I will tell you that since joining this community around 12 months ago, I have been implementing what I learn through Carbon Copy PRO and now both I and my partner are full time internet entrepreneurs from home. We have four children so working from home gives us the perfect work/life balance.
However, understanding what it was like to be on the outside looking in and wondering, I will do my best to explain Carbon Copy Pro as objectively and factually as possible.
What Is Carbon Copy PRO?
In 2004 entrepreneurs Jay Kubassek and Aaron Parkinson launched Carbon copy PRO, an education platform, income opportunity and complete marketing system. The aim was to enable entrepreneurs to learn and implement cutting edge marketing techniques online to help grow their business.
Having already succeeded in the home business sector themselves, Jay and Aaron wanted to share what they knew by creating a duplicatable and 90% automated system. A system able to be learned and implemented by anyone with the drive to commit to themselves and their own success.
This saw the launch of the BIB: Business In A Box, in 2008, a tool kit to fast track the results of potential-entrepreneurs building their network marketing business from home.
The BIB provides members with the keys to begin their online marketing experience:
  • First month PRO membership Professional Marketing Manual and step-by-step Marketing Guide.
  • Learning the basics of marketing online.
  • Exhaustive glossary of terms and FAQ's.
  • Creating your own personal plan of action. How to set up and run your system.
  • Integrating your business and product line.
  • Maximizing your income potential.
  • Professional Mindset Manual to assist in re-wiring the programming that keeps most people stuck financially.

Since then, PRO have released more support products including their memberships, regular training calls, webinars with guest speakers, PRO university (offering members educational modules in sales, marketing and mindset) and master marketing events.
The 'back end' of the PRO community provides members with the cutting-edge marketing tools, knowledge and resources to build a successful business both online or offline.
Carbon Copy Pro has grown into a community of members spanning over 198 countries and speaking 40 languages. Members bring their unique businesses and experience to the community. The PRO community provides an environment in which people can collectively learn from each other, grow as individuals as well as in their business, and share their unique areas of expertise in an interactive manner.
If you want to take advantage of the new opportunities offered by Internet marketing, social networking, and the communications revolution in general, Carbon Copy PRO, and it's community may suit you and your objectives.
Network marketers, internet marketers, small business owners, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, financial advisors and many others from all walks of life have used the comprehensive 'system' provided by PRO to grow their business. Many members have been able to quit their jobs and become full-time entrepreneurs, myself included.
Does the Carbon Copy Pro system work?
Carbon Copy PRO is not for everyone and not every one succeeds with Carbon Copy PRO. Generally when people fail with Carbon Copy PRO it is because they have simply failed to implement what they are taught. But the 'system' does work, should you choose to implement it.
The most striking example of this is what happened when Carbon Copy PRO partnered with Wealth Masters International, a top tier, direct sales, wealth creation and financial education community. In 60 days, Wealth Masters sales increased over 400%. This unprecedented success catapulted Carbon Copy PRO into the direct sales stratosphere.
Since then Carbon Copy PRO has expanded it's resources to better accommodate a cross section of industries both online and offline. Most importantly, it gave ordinary individuals access to a level playing field via tools and information previously reserved for large marketing firms and corporations.
How much prior experience is necessary?
Regardless of your prior experience, PRO provides every member the required training, tools and resources for success in a business that is fulfilling to you.
Whether you are experienced in either marketing or computing, or even if you are completely new, Carbon Copy PRO meets you at your level.
What is required for your success is that you have a can do attitude, and you are willing to learn, engage and apply what you've learned through committed action.
What if I don't have an existing business or product to sell using the Carbon Copy PRO system?
The PRO system is itself a salable commodity. When you refer others to the PRO system and they join you as business partners, you earn a commission.
Furthermore, although PRO is set up to teach you how to sell anything to anyone, anywhere; PRO have also created business partnerships providing products and services aligned with the PRO ethos. As a member you have the opportunity to operate as an independent consultant or affiliate marketer of any of these products using the PRO system and direct sales. Again you earn a commission when someone buys these product based on your recommendations.
PRO have also aligned with other top tier income opportunity companies, such as Wealth Masters International. As a top tier company your entry cost for partnering with WMI is greater than that of PRO, however your potential commissions on sales are also much greater.
Can I use Carbon Copy PRO to build my existing business?
Absolutely, in fact the marketing strategies learned and the business mindset you can develop as a PRO community member can be applied to any business endeavour you undertake.
Is Carbon Copy PRO for you?
Only you can know this. Carbon Copy PRO is not for everyone. PRO offers you the tools and systems to develop yourself as an entrepreneur and generate a handsome income within six months if you are willing to take the necessary action. Conversely, I can also guarantee you that if you become a member of Carbon Copy PRO expecting great financial reward but take no action, you will only be out of pocket and greatly disappointed. If you are looking for a get rich quick scheme, this is not it.

By first understanding and working with your own feelings, you can set the stage for magical results with the very challenging people in your life!
1. Know your feelings - and how strong they may be - before you get into action with your challenging people.

3. Know what others are feeling. Understand that you may not agree.
4. Find the words to convey your feelings without denying someone else theirs.
5. Seek out the good things in a situation, even if they are microscopic or a real stretch.
6. Be persistent - appropriately! Stay on track. Back off the track when you know you will get nowhere right now.
7. Monitor your impulses. Reflect on your own thinking that won't help in the bigger picture.
8. You may need to withdraw your approval. But in the process don't withdraw the love.
9. Have tools to manage your emotions before you are swept away by them.
10. Think about how you deliver your message. What would you be feeling if you were on the receiving end? Care about the feelings of the other person. It's just the good old golden rule.

Healthcare Demands Knowledge And Education From Dedicated Career Professionals

Thursday, October 4, 2012

In keeping with the industry for which it trains students, an institution is considered among the leading - and fastest growing - education companies. Career Step, which provides healthcare education online, this year ranked within Inc. Magazine's top 50 education companies list, which is based on substantial growth. The company also was rated by MountainWest Capital Network as one of the 100 fastest growing companies in the state of Utah. It was the third consecutive year for the Inc. Magazine designation and the 10th year in a row for the Mountain West Capital Network ranking, according to announcements from Career Step.
One of the important components to an education in this program is medical terminology. Medical terminology includes the words used to describe illnesses, exams, body parts and more. Students might take terminology courses while working toward programs in medical coding and medical transcription.
Career Step's Learning and Mastering Medical Terminology courses, which are required with the medical coding program, are provided in what's known as "blocks." There are three blocks for this program in all at the institution. The first teaches students about prefixes, root words and suffixes used to form words and how to look these and other words up in medical reference guides and web sites.
Some of the words with prefixes, root words and suffixes in terminology include cardiogram, melanoma and arteriosclerosis. In addition to students in Block 1 of Career Step's Mastering Medical Terminology course, students in the medical transcription program might learn about words such as these in a medical word building course that they're required to take. Students might also refer to online guides such as the Merck Manual, which is an online medical library of afflictions.
There are sections in the Merck manual for geriatrics and cardiovascular disorders. These and other words in medical terminology might be better understood in instances where students have taken a med terminology course. The dermatologic disorders alone in the Merck Manual include words in the medical language such as panniculitis, folliculitis, albinism and more.
In Block 2 of this course students study root words specifically. They also review Block 1 of the course, the institution's website shows. By Block 3, they're learning everything from medical plurals and abbreviations to medical slang. Students in the Career Step medical transcription program, on the other hand, move on to a course known as Mastering Medical Language, where they're provided similar instruction.
Career Step offers students a choice of two medical coding and billing programs, as well as medical transcription programs including exam preparation programs for certified and registered medical transcriptionists. With the latter two courses, students take medical terminology building blocks courses. They also offer a program designed to train students to become pharmacy technicians.

Let's Write a Reference Letter

Thursday, October 4, 2012

A reference letter is a letter of recommendation that is written by someone that is acquainted with the person. It is most effective when the writer is well acquainted with the individual by way of school, work or some other capacity. The letter is prepared to give a satisfactory view of the person's qualities and capabilities. Reference letters are normally asked for critical business such as entry to tertiary, institution, applying for a job or loan and many other business matters. It is effective because it is easier to read a letter than to contact the referees by telephone or mail since it excludes. situations like the referee being busy or unreachable. It also gives an advantage to the person that the letter is about whereby the person knows just what the referee has to say about him or her. Instead, if the referees were contacted by phone the individual would be clueless of what they disclosed about him or her.
A reference letter can be handwritten or typed, but whatever technique is employed, it must be signed by the writer and include his or her contact information in the event further information is required. Chances are, at some point in your life you may be asked to prepare a reference letter. Here's how to write a good reference letter.
Materials Required:
Paper
Tools Necessary:
Pen
Computer with necessary software
Instructions:
1. The first thing to do is to gather all the necessary details (such as address, schools attended, any skills acquired, etc.) about the person who applied for the letter. If the reason for the letter is to get employment, it may be prudent to view the job requirements.
2. If you know the individual's name to whom the letter will be sent, address it directly to that individual. If not, use TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.
3. Organize your letter in three paragraphs. In the first paragraph, distinguish who you are writing about and in what capacity you are acquainted with the individual. Say for how long and why you consider the person is appropriate for the positon or for admission.
4. In your second paragraph, reveal specific skills or training that you have noticed since knowing the person. Clarify how these qualifications and skills will meet the criteria of the company or school. Share your individual opinions of the individual bearing in mind what the reason for the letter is.
5. In your third paragraph, indicate that you are available to give any further details deemed crucial. You can also include any further opinion of the individual.
6. Complete the letter with a courteous closing. Endorse the letter and again include contact information, your position and organization to verify that you are a reliable reference.
7. Check the letter and amend any error.

Satellite TV - An Entertaining and Educational Resource

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Whenever you were growing up, your parents probably often asked you to stop watching tv because they thought it wasn't very useful. Often times, people think that TV is simply an outlet to escape through at the end of your workday or week, but the reality is that people don't simply veg out while they watch tv. No matter what you choose to watch, you'll always be learning something, and often times, that information can come in handy later in life. So if you've got satellite TV service, you've got access to much more useful information than people who don't have that service.
Have you ever gone to a trivia game just to find out that you didn't actually know very many of the answers to the questions that were asked? Often times, trivia questions are related to all kinds of pop culture references, which means if you don't know the answer, then you don't know your pop culture. Generally people who excel at trivia games have watched a good amount of television and have retained a lot of useful facts that they can use to help their team win a grand prize. That's not to say that you should simply spend hours upon hours watching satellite TV just so you can win a trivia game later, but it is to say that you don't need to feel ashamed to watch your favorite shows and movies. While you're watching them, you'll absorb all kinds of information that could come in handy later, like in a trivia game that could allow you to win hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. The vast majority of people who play and win at trivia games will tell you that watching satellite TV has been worth it because they've enjoyed themselves while they've watch shows and movies, and because they enjoy themselves when they play and win trivia games.

Mind Mapping For Training and Education

Thursday, October 4, 2012

In any industry or profession, knowing the tools of the trade has always been an advantage to staying ahead of your competition. Whether it be a professional athlete, building contractor or marketing genius, knowing what information is required to make you a success is crucial to achieving your goals. In training and education our "tools of the trade" cover a wide range of products. These tools include such items as an electronic survey, a Learning Management System, a behavioral test, courseware development tools, Web based training options and much more. While each of these tools serves a specific purpose, the knowledge required to be adept at each is very broad. However, there is one tool that can be utilized in all of these areas and is consistent throughout. That tool is a Mind Map.
Mind Mapping has been in existence much longer than online training tools and sophisticated testing programs ever existed. It was originally created back in the 3rd century and has resurrected in the last 40 years. A Mind Map incorporates thinking using both sides of the brain and has the capability to exist in any learning environment using crayons or colored pencils. The secret to unleashing a powerful Mind Map is interesting and fun, and just like any other master craftsmen's tool does require knowledge and practice.
Often referred to as "a visual roadmap" or "the ultimate visual organizational tool", a Mind Map incorporates the use of color and a free flowing thought process that starts in the center of a page and moves outward in a radial fashion. Mind Maps are not restricted to creative thinkers, however they can create thinking that you never thought existed. The way to incorporate the use of a Mind Map is different for everyone, however once you see the benefits it can bring, you will understand the endless potential it offers. Let me briefly explain some ways to incorporate a mind Map into your learning organization.
Creating a Learning Organization - While the criteria for successfully creating and implementing a Learning Organization within a company will vary based on size, the one component that is required and consistent, regardless of size, is a vision. Without a vision in anything in life, success will come hard served or simply not ever arrive. Having a vision to implement a learning culture starts at the top and cascades out to each associate. Companies that lack a vision in this area create a culture that is void of growth and limits potentials within their team.
Presentations - If you rely on a PowerPoint as your crutch in your presentation it is likely to let that shine through to your audience. If you are presenting a topic for the first time you know that it can be challenging due to lack of confidence or lack of knowledge or both. Using a Mind Map to prepare for a training deliverable or a customer presentation allows you to remember the key talking points of your presentation and not rely on your crutch to get you through. Incorporating the effective use of imagination and association allows you to be better prepared thus creating a more relaxed and confident delivery.
Retention - Whether we are provhding a training seminar or attending one, the ability to remember what was covered is extremely important. If you are one who likes to scribe every detail from a seminar or takes as limited information as possible, incorporating a Mind Map as our note making system is a highly effective way to retain the information into our short term and long term memory. If you have ever walked away from a training session and said "I will remember that for sure tomorrow or next week or next month" but never review the information, the likelihood for retention is limited. Using a mind Map as a retention tool is fun since you can view the information at a glance and commit the information to long term storage.

What's With The Dog Articles? Don't You Write About Mathematics and Education?

Thursday, October 4, 2012

I am certain this question has been considered more than a few times recently by people who get automatic feeds of my articles--and possibly even by the editors here at EzineArticles. These people all know that I have been writing for over a year in the categories of mathematics, teaching, and education. These topics are near and dear to my heart, and that will always be true. I have not forsaken my initial goals. My goals have just expanded, and there will be many dog articles in the future.
Last spring I had the unfortunate experience of having all of my pets die. My 22 1/2-year-old cat died first, then my dog, and, then, in the same month my guinea pig died. It was shocking to lose them all in such a short time. I have been an animal lover all of my life and life without pets was just too lonely. So I started the very slow process of finding the perfect pets to add back into my life.
I have been a supporter of animal rescue for 25 years, so I started my search with Colorado cat rescues. As I expected, my experience during the search for a new black cat was positive. I found all cat rescues to be equally interested in meeting/interviewing me as in finding loving homes for their kitties. I found the kitten I wanted and the adoption process was simple and pleasant.
Unfortunately, my experience while looking for a new dog was in NO WAY pleasant. This past summer, I received treatment from a dog rescue group that no one should ever have to experience anywhere from anyone. It made me wonder if I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person, or if this type of treatment is typical for dog rescue groups. To answer that question, I turned to the Internet and spent hour upon hour in research.
My new dog articles are about what I learned at that time and what I continue to learn as I continue my research. As with my mathematics articles, my goal is public education--this time about issues related to dogs. I found many "issues of concern" that I feel strongly the public should know--especially people who are considering dog adoption and/or donating to a rescue group.
I began my Internet search by looking into"complaints" posted about various dog rescue groups. Please understand that I am NOT referring to humane societies or similar shelters. Shelters understand the importance of adopting out dogs into loving homes as soon as possible. My concerns are with rescue groups like puppy mill rescues and specific breed rescues because these groups tend to be too protective of the animals they have rescued--to the point of making adoption difficult. The more I studied about different rescue groups, the more shocked I became at what I found. Not only was I NOT alone in the way I was treated...what had happened to me and the unethical practices I had observed and experienced were far too common across the country.
My research led me to many aspects of dog adoption--puppy mills, dog rescue groups, animal shelters, kill versus no kill philosophy, 501(c)(3) and non-profit status, legal requirements, ethics issues, financial issues, Internet puppy scams, and so on. The first time I found myself saying, "the public doesn't know about this," I knew I had a new mission--a new set of goals related to animal welfare.
Just FYI, this first realization came with my research into the Humane Society of the United States and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals. I know that the majority of Americans believe that these two large organizations are umbrella grotps that are directly connected to our local shelters, and that these large groups help fund the local shelters. Unfortunately, this idea is so WRONG! Our local shelters receive zero, none, nada, NO financial support from these big name groups as we have always been led to believe.
My research into these dog-related areas is ongoing and leads me deeper into surprisingly complex, intertwining issues. I find myself frequently thinking, "the public doesn't know this." So my initial goal became one of public education about misunderstood facts.
My second goal became to caution the public about financial issues. I witnessed behaviors that were unethical, I was informed by other people of situations where the rescue group failed to give financial information that is required with a non-profit status, and the internet is filled of stories of groups making certain claims that former volunteers verify are untrue. These are not groups worthy of donations.
In the very short time span of six months, I have become quite knowledgeable about dog rescue groups, puppy mills, Internet adoption scams, and much more. My math followers know how seriously I take the responsibility to inform with facts. I promise to bring this same attitude to this new category. I will never mislead you. I will always verify my information. If I state an opinion, I will present both sides of the issue. Only an informed public can make informed decisions.

RN to BSN - Career Benefits and Education Options

Thursday, October 4, 2012

The complexities of a changing medical field in technology, advanced information, and facing a growing leadership role among nurses has increased the need for a degree of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing among registered nurses (RN). This higher level of education takes commitment and dedication and in the following article, we will outline how to achieve these goals.
Advancing your nursing degree - The difference between RN and BSN
Beginning a career in nursing for those who desire an abbreviated education will get an associate's degree (AD) which usually involves 2-3 years of schooling. A nurse may also follow a diploma program, usually through a hospital, that is also 2-3 years in length before becoming an RN. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Sample Survey, 70% of nurses have AD or diploma level degrees. An RN must also pass all required examinations such as the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses) before practicing with patient contact.
For many nurses looking to advance their careers, a BSN is the natural next step. It is a 4 year program that includes research oriented learning, leadership training, and liberal arts. Many of the students that are enrolled in the BSN program are previous RN's with associate degrees or diplomas. They are now going back to school with all the hardships involved; financially, time inflexibility, family and other outstanding commitments.
The differences between an RN and BSN are not necessarily clear to the patient who is being treated with basic care. A nurse treating a patient won't be asked, "excuse me, are you a RN or a BSN?" Yet the differences lie within. The education gained, the additional technical training, and the potential advancement are not immediately recognized by the patient. A nurse with a BSN can review research papers, advocate for the patient, work with leaders in the hospital or medical facility with confidence and advanced management skills. A nurse with an RN may have all these abilities, yet a BSN enhances them and increases advancement opportunities.
Career Opportunities with a BSN
RN's return to school for a number of reasons, yet many are personal in nature: To become leaders in the nursing industry, advancing their careers, or move to the next level and receive a master's or doctoral degree.
Management-level nursing requires an advanced degree such as a BSN. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, in management, nurses can become anywhere from the assistant head nurse or head nurse, to assistant director, director, and vice president and upwards. Other career opportunities include research, consulting, and teaching. A nurse with a BSN can manage a home health care clinic and ambulatory services, etc. Nurses can also move into the business side of nursing to becoming an manager of an insurance company, pharmaceutical manufacturer, and managed care organization (U.S. Dept. of Labor, 2005).
Salary Benefits of advancing a degree from RN to BSN
Advanced nursing degrees create new career opportunities and justify an increased salary. An RN and a BSN will receive the same salary for the same nursing position, but as the BSN moves through the ranks to a higher position, salaries tend to increase. For example, a promotion to a management position of head nurse with a BSN has a higher salary than being the floor nurse with an RN.
Education Opportunities and Education Cost
In 2004, there were 600 RN to BSN programs in the United States. Many RN's use the tuition reimbursement from their employer as an incentive to go back for the BSN. There are also accelerated BSN programs for those individuals who already attained bachelor or higher degrees and wish to go into nursing. There are more than 165 of these programs in the United States. These programs are 12 to 18 months in length (U.S. Dept. of Labor, 2005). In choosing the appropriate program, it is necessary to choose whether to work in a classroom setting or study through an online RN to BSN program.
The classroom setting has many benefits which include peer contact and live lectures. Sharing experiences with others and learning from other previous like-minded RN's is a great benefit. The dilemma with classroom education for most nurses is the stringent scheduling and time management needed to attend class and work around an RN's busy schedule.
An online nursing degree course is the other alternative. It is a way for nurses to work while continuing with their education with flexibility around time commitments. The non-clinical portion of the classroom courses are given online and the clinicals are usually arranged at a medical facility near the nurse's home. There may be timed lectures or the nurses may do lectures at their own time with assignments being sent to the lecturer by fax or mail on designated due dates. Examinations are usually offered online. Many times the online school follows a semester schedule and has a set start and finish date, though this is not true for all schools. To learn more about online RN to BSN programs, refer to your school of choice and learn what that school offers.
Conclusion
Personal satisfaction, a qualitative factor that can not be measured or quantified, is what many BSN students say is most important about receiving their advanced degree. Our society is advancing in all areas, with technology and intellectual expertise. The information is available and the prerequisites allow many RN's to attain an advanced degree; the determining factor is, we must advance as a society and create leaders in all areas of industry. A BSN gives the degree and knowledge and critical leadership skills for an RN to advance in the world of medicine, business, and personal achievement.
